FF3 Side Quests

In order to start with any of the sidequests in this game, you need to send 7 letters to your real life friends via DS Wireless Play or Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. To send letters to a friend, talk to a moogle in any in town to access Mognet, then enter a Friend Code. Once you’ve done that, select Moghouse then “A Faraway Friend” make the the code you just entered usable.

Below is brief guide on how to unlock and clear each of the quests. Note that you only need to send the 7 letters once to unlock all the sidequests.

Sara’s Pendant

1. Send a total of 7 letters to your real life friends via DS Wireless Play or Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.
2. Keep sending messages to Sara until you receive her final letter titled “Help!” which in turn talks about her broken pendant. Then head over to Sasune Castle to visit the princess.
3. Now, head over to Kazus and have Takka check on the pendant.
4. Spam letters to Takka until he sends you his 4th letter titled, “The Legendary Smith”. Fly to Northwestern Saronia and look for this blacksmith there. She then offers to fix the pendant only if you give her an Orichalcum.

That’s it for this quest.

The Ultima Weapon

1. Complete the Sara’s Pendant quest. Then send some more messages to Takka until you receive his final letter titled “Orichalcum”.
2. Spam letters to Cid until he sends you a message titled “Something in the Basement”. After that, pay Cid a visit in his house at Canaan, then head to the basement. Defeat the monster there. Take what it left behind.
3. Take the metal to Cid, which turns out to be the Orichalcum.
4. Show this item to the Legeendary Blacksmith. Open the portal to Eureka first in order to make her appear, then head over to Falgabard. She waits just to the right of the weapon shop. After taking the metal, she will then craft the Ultima Weapon for you.

The Onion Knight Job

1. Send a total of 7 letters to your real life friends via DS Wireless Play or Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.
2. Spam letters to Topapa until he sends you a message titled “The Children are in Trouble”. Head over to Ur and talk to Topapa.
3. Enter the Altar Cave and move along until you find the missing children. Defeat the 3 Bombs for a crystal shard that grants the Onion Knight job.

The ??? Dungeon

1. Send a total of 7 letters to your real life friends via DS Wireless Play or Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.
2. Spam letters to the Four Old Men until you receive all 4 messages.
3. Spam letters to Alus until you receive all 4 messages.
4. In the Surface World, fly to the spot in between the exit to the floating continent and the Dalg Continent. Look for a shadow in the waters in this area. Then dive underwater in the Nautilus. At the bottom, approach the weeds to enter the dungeon.

The Job Mastery Cards

You will receive rewards from the legendary blacksmith whenever you manage to get a job up to level 99. Remember that the character with the mastered job needs to be in your party. The rewards are listed below.
