About Loot
Unlike the previous installments in the Final Fantasy franchise, most enemies in Final Fantasy XII don’t drop gil upon their defeat. Instead, you receive seemingly useless items, called loot, which can be sold for moderately high prices at any shop. Every enemy in the game drops loot, but you can also use the techniques Steal or Poach to get some more rare pieces. Loot is also essential to unlocking the rare items in the Bazaar. When you sell a certain amount of loot to a shop, a new item may be added to the Bazaar. These items can range from grimoires, weapons, armor, accessories, or restorative items. After you obtain a grimoire from the Bazaar, the drop rate from a specific species of beast will increase, making the more rare loot appear more often.
