Every type of magic, called magicks in Final Fantasy XII, make a return, except for Blue Magic. White magic is essential to any party and should be used in the place of items until an emergency arises. The basic Fire, Blizzard, and Thunder spells return in all three levels along with a few new spells to add to a black mage’s arsenal, including the all powerful Scathe. Now classified as green magic, the protective spells such as Protect, Shell, and Reflect are no longer considered white magic. Time magic offers some beneficial spells such as Haste and Slow, and arcane magic makes the games most advanced tactics possible with spells like Bubble and Decoy.
